Favorite Wedding Moments of 2017 | Cassie Cook Photography

I had so many moments at weddings this year that pulled on my heart strings, made me laugh until my sides hurt, brought tears to my eyes, and were just moments that stuck with me. I wanted a way to highlight those moments and give them the attention they deserved.
After all, isn't that what it's all about? Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for beautiful details, but the reason I do what I do is because I'm totally obsessed with the little moments at weddings that end up turning into the big moments. The photos that tell an entire story.

So, here are some of my favorite wedding moments of 2017!

THE ONE WITH THE WANDS

AH. This was so cool.
So Nathan wanted to surprise his bride with something totally special, something so them that Melanie would just freak. out. (as you can see, she did)
He found custom wands for each of their parents to hold into the air after they were pronounced husband and wife. Melanie had absolutely no idea and was SO STOKED when she turned to see her family and friends.

THE ONE WITH THE CRAZY HOUR

La Hora Loca,' meaning 'the crazy hour,' is a Venezuelan wedding tradition. Just as the party seems like it's dying, the dance floor is starting to clear out and everything is winding down.... La Hora Loca strikes! The lights dim, the music amps up, party favors seem to fall from the sky- hats, whistles, beads, and noisemakers-you name it. And just like that, without a word of warning or a gesture to head to the dance floor, everyone is already there, going, you guessed it, CRAZY!
All of the energy of the room concentrates onto the dance floor, celebrating the bride and groom and for one hour it is nonstop wild dance moves and insane amounts of fun.

This was without a doubt my FAVORITE part of Juan and Shelby's wedding, and I believe it was everyone else's favorite too. Everyone loosened their ties and let loose and just had a BLAST. The bride and groom said they didn't expect Shelby's family to out-dance the Venezuelans, but I think it's safe to say that everyone partied hard and danced their hearts out!

THE ONE WITH THE FREAK SNOWSTORM

When mother nature throws a wrench in your plans and it decides to drizzle and drop below freezing the whole day. And maybe you were hoping for sunny and 75, but you get a beautiful, random snow flurry storm that leaves your wedding completely magical and unforgettable. I couldn't imagine their wedding day any other way now. Dusted with snow flurries, just for the two of them.

THE ONE WHERE EVERYBODY RUNS

This is probably one of my favorite wedding photos this year, and by far one of my favorite moments.
Travis and Caroline said their 'I do's' in Rosemary Beach, Florida. We had walked down to the beach to take photos, and a few minutes in a quick summer rain rolls through and left us all scurrying back up for cover. I couldn't resist turning while we ran and snapping a few photos of the whole crew bookin' it back to the house.
I love this moment, because It wasn't full of disappointment or stress over the rain. It was life. It was real. It was taking a little rain and embracing it and letting it be a fun part of your story.

THE ONE RIGHT AFTER THEY SAID I DO

My favorite moment at weddings is always immediately after they are announced husband and wife and walk down the aisle together, that itny window of time where they turn to each other and just soak it all in. It's the best. I'm so lucky that I get to witness that particular moment between so many couples. Brent and McCarley were ecstatic as they turned to each other for the first time as husband and wife and McCarley gave him the biggest hug in the whole world.

THE ONE WITH THE TEARS

Ugh, these two. They hung out together all morning, got ready together, and it didn't effect a single thing. As Amelia came down the aisle, Ian was overcome with emotion and love has he saw his bride walking towards him. It was such a powerful moment to witness, and I loved that spending the entire morning together didn't take away one bit of the excitement and emotion he felt as she walked toward him and they said their "I do's".

THE ONE WITH THE FIRST DANCE

Ugh, where do I even start? Cassie and Matt's wedding was 100%, totally, completely them. There was so much personality in every part of their wedding day, even in their first dance.

"Matt and I went to college with 2 of the guys in the band, Caney Creek Company. We also love bluegrass music so we had planned on having them play our wedding from the very beginning. We knew they would be able to create the mood we wanted for both the ceremony and our first dance, which they pulled off flawlessly! It was both of our favorite parts of the night!" -Cassie McLure

THE ONE WITH THE BEER AND ALL THE BEAUTIFUL LADIES

Need I say more? Of course getting married at a brewery means everyone has a beer in hand, but seeing Melanie surrounded by her closest babes celebrating and toasting to the day was such a fun moment that I got to capture.

THE ONE WITH THE WEDDING GIFT

This was a more quiet moment of the day, a subtle, sentimental moment.
Kelsey had her jewelry picked out for the day, but her wedding gift from Spencer was a pair of beautiful earrings, and this is her putting them in before she walked down the aisle to become his wife. It's not a big moment, it isn't flashy, but it was one I loved getting to witness.

THE ONE WITH THE GIANT GROUP HUG

Right after McCarley and Brent said their "I do's", McCarley's girl squad rushed to surround her with love, hugs, tears and laughter.

THE ONE WITH THE GETAWAY CAR

I loved this moment because it was such a quiet, peaceful moment during the day that these two were able to find a few moments to spend together on the way to their ceremony. I think finding a quiet moment together on your wedding day is SO important and meaningful, and this is why I chose this moment.

Thank you all for letting me have a part in telling your story.
