Memphis Tennessee Wedding Photographer | Downtown Memphis Proposal | Shane & Becky
"Shane and I met in high school through mutual friends. We dated during a summer as teenagers but our young lives moved in different directions.
Fast forward 17 years later, I was going through some old photos when I ran across some high school photos of our old group of friends and you'll never guess who I stumbled across. After a few Facebook clicks, chats, and a dinner with an old friend, I mustered the nerve to email Shane and say hello. We agreed to meet up for lunch a few days later and have been inseparable ever since.
Here's the thing, I already knew he was going to ask, I just had no idea when or how. So, when my mom told me, "Let's get a manicure Saturday," and my daughter chimed in, "and you should wear a dress Momma," I knew something was up. Saturday morning at the nail salon my future sister-in-law and 2 nephews walked in the nail salon bearing an envelope with my name on it, a box of donuts (a favorite splurge of ours) and a red bull. I was beyond words excited and curious about his plan. He had my entire day mapped out! So, off on the scavenger hunt I went with my mom and daughter. At each stop, friends and family met me with goodies and his clue. He compiled all the places that have a special meaning to us, from Collierville High School where we met, to Mellow Mushroom for our second "first date", to BB Kings where we watched my daughter perform live for the first time. The last clue was propped against the ticket booth at the Old Daisy Theater on Beale Street. Inside the envelope was my clue and a letter. The clue was blank which left me perplexed, so I opened the letter which read, "This clue is blank because it represents our future together. A future that we write together. A future I've dreamed about. I can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring us, what adventures it has in store, what memories will be made..." By the 3rd sentence I was a basket case and as I looked up to catch my breath I see Shane come around the corner, I quickly turned to wipe my eyes. I will never forget the surge of emotions that hit me in that pivotal moment, I cant even put them into works, I was, and am, truly speechless. I turned around and hugged him and he whispered in my hear, 'Hey, I have a question for you...'"
Well, obviously she said yes.
(I guess this would be a pretty awkward blog post if she didn't...)
;)
These two didn't let the scattered summer showers bother them. They embraced it and ran out into the rain, laughing and holding each other as they celebrated the choice they had made to spend their lives together. So glad I got to tag along and document this adorable proposal! Congrats you two!
