Memphis Tennessee Wedding Photographer | A Romantic and Steadfast Engagement in Hernando, MS | Robbie & Casey
From the day I met Robbie and Casey when they first contacted me about photographing their wedding later this fall, I instantly vibed with them and knew they would quickly become one of my favorite wedding couples. Not only are they getting married at Memphis Made Brewery (a brewery... how COOL is that?!) they're also so laid back and natural with each other in a way that shows the devotion and tender love between them. It's expressed their little signs of affection, but also through the steadiness and comfort they have found in each other over the years. I am beyond excited to be documenting their wedding day this October!
"Casey and I have been together for 7 years, and have been engaged 6 of those years. It was really the legalization of same-sex marriage that made us take the initiative to actually start planning our wedding. We were excited that we could go through with it and it would be worth it by actually counting as a legitimate marriage. You would think living in the South that we would have had more problems being a same-sex couple, but really we haven't come across any instances where it has been an issue. We had more trouble as teenagers than we have had as adults. We are always ourselves whether among friends or strangers, and luckily we live in a time where it's not as big of deal as it used to be. My advice to anyone LGBT is surround yourself with people who love you no matter what. People who understand that your sexuality is literally the least important thing about you. Distance yourself from anyone who makes you feel inferior or says that you are wrong for being who you are."
"Technically we met on Myspace while in high school, but we met in person while we were both in college in Oxford, MS. You never really know someone when you are just chatting online, so when we finally met in person I didn't know what to expect. However, I knew pretty much right off the bat that I was in love when we first actually met each other. I think about a week or two in I told him I loved him. I may have jumped the gun, but it's worked out so far. I really love how extroverted Casey is. If I let myself, I would stay inside reading all day, but he pulls me out of my shell. As a couple, we are pretty gregarious, and I'm extremely thankful for all of the people I have in my life because of him. We are both foodies and beer snobs, also. We both love to try new things, and I'm glad I have a partner in crime who is will join me in saying, "why the hell not?" -Robbie
"Robbie is the first person I have ever been able to just include in every significant and insignificant detail of my life through thick and thin. He pushes me in my career to reach for everything I desire. While we were in school together he would constantly push me to complete my work, do extra work, and volunteer for additional assignments that would get me the experience I needed to grow. I really enjoy how Robbie truly likes to be open minded about almost everything. He pushes me to not only be a better person to myself, but pushes me to be able to give him the opportunity to do anything and everything he wants to do. Robbie has the type of mind that can always be creative and loves just doing what he does. I want him to always reach for the stars with his vastly creative mind, because quite frankly I do not have an artistic bone in my body.
My favorite memory of him is the first time we held hands. We were coming back from Tupelo to Oxford while on an Old Navy run. We were both so nervous and wanted to do it, but he made the move and had the biggest smile on his face. We enjoyed such an intimate moment together without anyone or anything else around." -Casey
What are ya'll most looking forward to about your wedding day?
Robbie: It may be sad, but on our wedding day I am most looking forward to having a taco bar. If I were the old lady in that movie Patch Adams, I would want to be in a pool of tacos instead of noodles. Just saying. But seriously, planning a wedding is hard work. I'm excited to see everything come together and everyone enjoying themselves. It's a huge milestone for both of us, and I'm going to try my best to not be a blubbering mess.
Casey: I am excited to share our moment with everyone most important in our lives. I am excited to finally become the family we are meant to be. This is going to be the first step into our grand future that will take us both anywhere and everywhere we want to go. Robbie is working his butt off to make sure it's his dream wedding, and I am excited to give him that.
