A Vintage Wedding on the Square at First & Green in Grenada, MS | Caroline & Austin
"Our original wedding venue canceled on us a couple months before the wedding. While I was scrambling for a new wedding venue, my friend Anna got a speeding ticket driving through Grenada and stumbled upon First and Green. I went to see it, saw the bookcases, and I was instantly sold.
The building used to be a hardware store and felt old, and the wood accents reminded me of Austin's woodworking. I also knew it would look beautiful covered in greenery.
We ended up thankful our original venue cancelled. I ended up staying across the street from First & Green the night before with my sisters and closest friends at Lofts on the Square, getting ready in Grenada, and now the random town of Grenada, Mississippi will always have a special place in my heart." -Caroline
Every single detail of Caroline's wedding attire had a special part of her day. Every piece had meaning behind it, and I loved the way she incorporated it all. Austin's mom sewed Caroline's garter from pieces of her own wedding dress and gave it to her as a present while she was getting ready. Her blue shoes were the ones that her sister, Lindsey, wore on her wedding day. She'd been borrowing her clothes for every occasion their entire lives anyways, so it was fitting that she borrow these for her wedding day.
Even their ring boxes were handmade by Austin himself. It made every bit of their day so personal and intimate to them.
Before their first look, Austin sent his mother upstairs to the bridal suite to deliver a present to Caroline. It came with a letter that she opened first, along with a small wooden box that Austin had handmade himself.
After reading the letter from her groom-to-be (and wiping a couple tears) she opened the small box to find a pair of emerald green earrings that had belonged to Austin's grandmother.
It was an incredibly sweet and sentimental gift with immeasurable meaning. She tearfully took them from the box and held them in her hand for a moment before putting them on, taking it all in.
"These emerald earrings were Austin's late grandmother's. His mom had them and I have loved them since the first time I saw them. I was so honored that she agreed to let me borrow them for our engagement pictures and wedding since they matched our colors perfectly. Reading the letter he wrote me, opening the box he handmade, and seeing those earrings is my favorite moment of our wedding. Not only are they beautiful, but they are a piece of Austin's family who I love so much and am incredibly honored to have as my family now."
"When I saw Austin I remembered what this day was for. I absolutely loved spending the night with my closest friends the night before and spending all day getting ready but when I finally saw Austin everything slowed down and all the pressure was off. I was no longer nervous and everything just melted away besides me and him."-Caroline
I couldn't be more obsessed with these long emerald green bridesmaids dresses. Caroline picked a very simple and elegant wedding color pallet. They were given an adorable green beaded bracelet and a pair of gold earrings as a gift to her bridesmaids.
Caroline found the perfect book for them to use as their guest book at Dog Eared Books on a recent trip to San Francisco. It's massive and full of plants, and it is accidentally printed upside down. It was quirky and perfect, and it tied in perfectly to all the greenery and plants that Caroline incorporated into their wedding day.
