A Warm, Autumn Wedding in Holly Springs, MS | Alex & Matt

“For me, the best part of the beginning of the day was just being able to look around the room and see so many of the people that mean the absolute most to us telling stories, laughing, and just being present each other. There was just something special about being surrounded by such amazing, loving, kind people in that moment.”

“Things started feeling super real when I gave my bridesmaids the letter that I wrote them. I just remember feeling a rush of emotions ranging from excited to nervous to sentimental and grateful to genuinely content in that moment.”

“Up next was my first look with my dad, which was just overall SUCH a special moment for me, He is my hero and to be able to have such a sweet moment with him before everything got crazy was a highlight to the day for me.”

-Alex

“When I realized our first look was being set up, I started feeling nervous. I remember feeling full of anticipation waiting on Alex on the doc. I could hear her walking closer and felt more excited with each step. When she tapped me on the shoulder and I turned around, I remember thinking "wow, I have the most beautiful bride I've ever seen". It made me so excited to spend the rest of our day together. I was so happy we didn't have to spend anymore of the day apart and I could experience the rest the day with her.”

-Matt

“Everyone absolutely killed it. Thank you to all of our friends, family, and vendors made our day everything we could have hoped and dreamed for, and more! They did such an absolutely flawless job and executed our vision perfectly.”

“Matt's dad handmade our arbor which was such an amazing touch. He worked for weeks to get it exactly how we wanted and standing beneath that while we were married by Matt's cousin was just such a special and meaningful touch to the day.”

“Also, the song I walked down the aisle to was extremely special to us. One of our favorite bands, Pinegrove, who we have seen live together multiple times (even prior to dating) sent us a dropbox link to the instrumental version of one of our favorite songs by them. We messaged them after having a hard time finding a song that felt right for me to walk down to and they were more than willing to let us use the track for the wedding. It was such a special touch to our ceremony considering our appreciation and love for the band.”

-Alex

“Alex's family owns beautiful land in Holly Springs so, we were pretty set on that space from day one. It was a space no one else has ever been married on and no one else will likely get married on. Gorgeous trees lining the edge of the water, the leaves beginning to change and scatter the ground. We can visit the spot we were married whenever we choose to and that made the choice that much more special.”

-Matt

“Once I got to the arbor, everything blurred and it was like all I could see was Matt and all I could think about was how absolutely perfect our life together would be. It was like there weren't 15 people standing up there with us in front of all of the people that we love and cherish. I truly cannot recall feeling even one sense of nervousness at any part of the day.”

-Alex

“There isn't anything more amazing than marrying your absolute best friend. We know how cliche that line is - "I'm marrying my best friend", but we really, truly mean - the one person that has been there through it all, the one that you know you can count on no matter what, your absolute person. Matt and I spent many years as best friends before we decided to start dating, but we both knew that if we chose to start a relationship, we would be all the way in, there wouldn't be any turning back - and there wasn't.”

-Alex

“Our time together after the ceremony and pictures was so special to me. Being with Matt, rehashing how everything so far has been perfect and processing how wonderful it was that all of our friends and family were just a few steps away was exactly what we both needed in that moment, after the hours of getting ready, the anticipation, and the excitement. Just to have a few minutes of calmness really set the stage for the reception.”

-Alex

“Our first dance was a song we picked before we had (almost) anything else planned. Back in February we rented a cabin for a weekend. We have a big playlist with all of our favorite artists/songs that we shuffle anytime we are hanging out playing board games, traveling - really anytime we want to play music, we use this playlist. We had the playlist on shuffle the first night at the cabin and "July" by BOY shuffled on. Even though we had heard this song countless times before, this time was different; we both knew instantly that this was our first dance song. We resonate with the lyrics and truly believe finding each other was like coming home. We started dancing to the song in the living room of the cabin and never once questioned that song choice.”

“Walking into the barn holding hands, being introduced with everyone cheering us on was surreal to me. I remember during our first dance Matt started crying, I think everything was hitting him all at once, but in that moment all I could think to do was to sing the words of our first dance song to him and to tell him to pretend we were back in the cabin when we chose this song. I think this was more for my benefit than his ;) Soon after, our wedding party joined us and I think that was a moment I could have lived in forever. Looking around and seeing our wedding party (almost all of our wedding party were either married or engaged) dancing with us to our song was magical.”

-Alex

“Dance with my dad was so sweet. Something about the dances really hit the two most important men in my life really hard. He started crying too. It was all I could do to hold it in during my first dance so, at this point, I started crying too.”

The rest of the night was full of dancing with all of our friends, visiting with all of our family, laughing, crying, and just an all around amazing time. I can't reiterate enough how perfect it was to be surrounded by everyone celebrating us, our love, and our life together. It was all around the best day of my life.
