A Dreamy and Elegant Wedding at Annesdale in Memphis, TN | Mr. & Mrs. Ring

“I felt like the day was finally there. The first look was a first step into our life together. Alicia was so beautiful. Each small part of her ensemble, from her shoes to her bouquet to the braids in her hair were all representations of the amount of work and detail she put into celebrating our love. The wedding and reception were things we got to share with everyone, but the first look was something I got to share alone with Alicia before all of the craziness started!”

“I was so excited for Jake to see me all dolled up! But the strongest feeling I had was relief - I was so happy to finally see him and get to spend time with him. While getting ready, although I had a lot of fun with my girls, I just missed him and wanted to be with him! Our first look felt very grounding - to see him, spend some time just the two of us away from commotion and spectacle. It is definitely one of the highlights of the day.”

-Alicia

“I had been looking at Memphis wedding venues long before Jake ever proposed to me. Partially because I was ready to be engaged and partially just out of curiosity! I'm glad I did, because as soon as we visited Annesdale (which was a week after we got engaged), we booked it. It's dreamy, romantic, old, and classic. It stands very firmly on its own two feet, so to speak, and needs very little gussying up to be beautiful.”

-Alicia

“Reading my vows was my favorite part, which is weird considering I was nervous about them not being good enough! But once I started talking, I was just overwhelmed with emotion. It hit me, how sincerely I meant each word, and how strongly I am committed to upholding those vows. It's an amazing feeling, having such fierce devotion to someone, so it was really nice to speak it out loud for everyone to hear and to make those promises to Jake.”

-Alicia

“We danced to Annie's Song by John Denver. It's kind of funny - of all the songs we've shared over the past eight years, we went with a song that we really only heard a few months before Jake proposed to me! We both just thought it was so lovely and really spoke to how we feel about one another. So not only did Jake use it when proposing to me, but it was easily the top choice for our first dance song, too!”

-Alicia

“One of my favorite parts of the day was all the first dances - I loved being able to enjoy the significance of personal celebrations between me and Alicia, her and her dad, and me and my mom. From the rush of trying to greet every guest and speak with everyone, it felt like a pause and a much needed quiet moment of reflection and pure joy.”

-Jake

"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world."
