A Fall Wedding at The Davis Home at Strawberry Plains in Holly Springs, MS | Mr. & Mrs. Nash
Alexis and Ryan's day took place at a gorgeous wedding venues in Mississippi, The Davis Home at Strawberry Plains. The grounds surrounding the home are scattered with wildflowers and greenery, and behind it stretches a long board walk weaving through the nature preserve that makes up most of the property. They fell in love with Strawberry Plains because it was so similar to the ones they visited in Starkville when they first started dating.
This is the place that the Nash's decided to join their lives together in front of their friends and family.
"The whole day was dream. I woke up and took a shower. My parents both came up before anyone else was really awake and gave me a beautiful necklace as a wedding present which I wore for the wedding. A few of my girls came to pick me up so we could ride together, and I don’t think it hit me that I was getting married until we were walking up to the house. I got a sudden feeling of excitement and a little nerves. The girls and I started getting ready with hair and makeup and made some mimosas."
"I got to relax all morning and things didn’t seem real again until I was in the room with my mom and my sister who were helping me get ready. It was in that moment with my mom and sister, my dress on, the necklace my parents gave me, a pearl bracelet that was from Ryan’s great grandmother, and my sparkly Kate Spade Keds, that I couldn’t believe that I was about to marry my best friend. It was calming to have the two of them in that moment, it’s when you realize that your life is about to change and they are by your side. Of course, then my dad came up to see me for the first time since the bracelet that morning and it was the cherry on top."
"All the jewelry I was wearing meant something. The necklace my parents gave me that morning was my something new. The bracelet that all the women have worn on their wedding day from Ryan’s great grandmother was my something borrowed. I also had my great grandmother’s necklace wrapped around my bouquet that her husband, my papa, gave her, my something old and something blue."
"I read my letter from Ryan shortly after that which included two parts. One that talked about our life starting and one from 2015 as a reminder that he still felt the same way and always would. Naturally I cried like a baby."
"I knew it was time. We got everyone together and went downstairs. I had one brief nervous moment when I walked outside and heard the song that the wedding party was entering to and then got on the golf cart to be taken to the ceremony. Ryan’s back was to me when we pulled up so I was able to watch the flower girls running in all different directions which was perfectly okay because it was a silly moment I needed before my entrance. My dad and I got settled at the end of the aisle and I gave to okay to have Ryan turn around and I found myself holding my breath. Thinking, this is it. He turned around and instantly started crying which was more than I ever expected for his first look at me. I wasn’t nervous anymore. Seeing him took all my nervousness away. I knew this was the start of our life and I couldn’t be happier. The ceremony is a little bit of a blur, but I remember the kiss of course!"
"For our first dance, we danced to 'Can’t Help Falling in Love with You' by Elvis. Ryan would sing it for me all the time in the car during really good times and especially if I was sad or upset. It makes me laugh every time."
